AT A GLANCE: Anna Prince

Anna Prince TodayDr. Anna Prince studied broadcasting and media at the Carolina School of Broadcasting where she received a diploma. She was also a student at the United Christian Academy and received a diploma from Southwest Technical College. She is a licensed Bible teacher. She received a music doctorate from the London Institute of Applied Research. After moving to Nashville Tennessee in 1986, Dr., Prince became a television executive at Viacom/Intermedia television channel 19. She is the executive Director and host of "Real Heroes of Country Music', a thirty six part series Emmy nominee. Each show features Dr. Prince talking with a different guest about the early years of Nashville and Country Music. Her aspiration for the show came at a R.O.P.E. (Reunion of Professional Entertainers) meeting.

Dr. Prince says, "I saw Bill Monroe and people that had been there and were fading now, and I realized that there are stories that are passing here that we need to capture.' When Anna and bandAnna Prince was a small child, she performed as a singer and guitarist for her Evangelist father. She loved entertaining, and by the age of nine., she was writing lyrics and composing music. Her career began as a songwriter for Hank Locklin Music Company in Nashville. She was an entertainer at the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville Tennessee, where she told tales of life in the Great Smokey Mountains and sang songs including this one;

"I'd like to meet you, sit down and be with you. The sunshine that warms me, is rising on you You are my Brother, my Sister and Mother I already love you, I'd like to meet you."

Anna Prince, author of 23 recorded songs to date, wrote "I Feel a Cry Coming On' , which was number one in England,. Anna performs at a "Writer's Night"Another number one in England she wrote was, "The Best Part of Loving You'' . "Anna", a song she wrote as a tribute to her mother, made the Billboard list and was re-recorded in Ireland, becoming another European hit. It also became a number one hit in New Zealand. One of her most recent hits which she sang and wrote was, "I'm In Love With You', was popular in Belgium.

She has a current CD , ten song CD album on the KMA label which recently ranked #25 in the whole of Europe. Anna Prince is loved by people everywhere she goes and she loves people.

In recognition of her accomplishments , Dr. Prince was nominated a Distinguished Woman of North Carolina, Anna Wall of Fameby the North Carolina Council on the Status of Women in 1984. She is a current member of the Country Music Association, Broadcast Music Incorporated, Reunion of Professional Entertainers, the Fraternal Order of Police and Maison Internationales des Intellectuals. She is Dame of the Knight of Templars and the Lofsensic Order. With the International Parliament of for Safety and Peace, Dr. Prince is a life member, deputy of foreign affairs and a deputy member of the assembly. She is a moderator and former teacher of Nashville Songwriters Association International.

Anna and her Father, 1981Born in Isabella Tennessee, Dr. Prince is the daughter of Reverend Ulysses and Della (Hawkins) Prince. Anna is a widow with three daughters, Sandy, Teresa and Vandi. Her hobbies include gourmet cooking, playing guitar, landscape painting and public speaking. . She has traced her family lineage back to John Prince, father of John and William, in Gloucester, England in 1569. Her forefather Edward migrated from London to Virginia in 1635, at the request of King Charles: he helped set up the American Government and was a member of the House of Burgess.
